How to Deploy and Configure vRealize Log Insight 4.8
Step 1. Download the VMware vRealize Log Insight 4.8.0 – Virtual Appliance from VMware.
Step 2. Log into your vCenter vSphere Client.
Step 3. Right click on the cluster under the host and cluster view. Then click Deploy OVF Template on the drop down list.
Step 4. Once the new window pops up, do the following:
-select Local File
-then select Choose Files
-next browse for the OVA you downloaded in step 1
Step 5. Select the location where you want to deploy Log Insight then click Next.
Step 6. Select the compute resource you want to use then click Next.
Step 7. This screen gives you the detailed review of the OVA you are deploying. Review this information then click Next.
Step 8. Accept the EULA then click Next.
Step 9. Select one of the predefined deployment configurations that fits your environment then click Next. (In my lab I’m going with the Extra Small deployment)
Step 10. Select the datastore you want to use for storage then click next.
Step 11. Select your network configuration then click next.
Step 12. Fill in all the fields then click next.
Step 13. Review the final deployment configuration then click FINISH.
Step 14. Wait until you see Deploy OVF template status as completed.
Step 15. Once the deployment is finished select the VM’s and Templates view. Next, find the Log insight server you deployed then power it on.
Step 16. After about 10 min you should be able to access Log Insight through the web interface. At this point, you can finish the setup.
Step 17. Since this is a new deployment, select START NEW DEPLOYMENT.
Step 18. Fill in the appropriate information the click SAVE AND CONTINUE.
Step 19. Add license key then click SAVE AND CONTINUE.
Step 20. Enter an email address that you wish to receive important log insight system events, then click SAVE AND CONTINUE.
Step 21. Configure the appropriate NTP servers you use in your environment then click SAVE AND CONTINUE.
Step 22. Configure SMTP configuration then click SAVE AND CONTINUE.
Step 23. Click FINISH and the setup is complete.
Step 24. Now we will select Configure vSphere Integration.
Step 25. Add a vCenter host name and service account with appropriate rights. Your service account should have Read-Only rights to your vCenter. VMware also recommends that you do not use an administrator account.
Step 26. Your vSphere integration is complete.
Step 27. If click Dashboards at the top of the screen then expand General you will see data being collected.
